The company:
The Welcome Trust are seeking an Investments Solicitor to join their team in London for a 12 month fixed term contract.
The role:
To provide strategic, proactive, responsive, innovative and high quality legal advice to the Investment Division and other divisions and departments of the Trust. This will involve working closely with the Investment Legal Team and the wider Legal Team, and continuously enhancing and developing relationships between Legal, the Investment Division and elsewhere.
About you:
- Qualified lawyer in UK or other appropriate jurisdiction.
- Minimum of 5 to 8 years PQE (Post Qualification Experience) in corporate or investment work.
- Experience of applying legal expertise to a range of business and legal problems.
- Experience of drafting and negotiating agreements for a wide range of commercial and investment transactions.
- Able to give advice that takes account of legal, tax, accounting and commercial considerations.
- Well organised and a structured approach to work.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Excellent communicator - both written & spoken word, including non-lawyers.
- Excellent draftsperson.
- Can tackle new subjects and areas of law with confidence and competency.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritise, take initiatives and work to deadlines.
Desirable skills:
- Prior "in-house" experience.
- Experience of legal issues in the financial services sector, including exposure to regulatory issues, terms of business etc.
- Experience of structuring joint ventures and other partnership relationships.
- Experience of dealing with financial instruments such as derivatives.
- Experience of tax issues.
- Experience of US law.
