THE ROLE
This leading international firm is offering an opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to cover a maternity leave for 12 months in the Data Protection and Privacy team, starting in March 2017.
The role is based in the London office which offers a friendly and supportive atmosphere. The PSL is integral to the Data Protection and Privacy team and supports the whole firm covering all areas of data protection and privacy for a wide variety of clients in various sectors.
This PSL role will report direct to the Data Protection and Privacy partners and liaise closely with other PSLs in the firm and central Knowledge and Information department, as well as with the firm's Privacy and Compliance teams and the Business Development, and Learning and Development departments.
This role will involve:
Liaising with relevant associates and PSLs in all practice areas and the firm's Compliance and Privacy teams to disseminate knowledge.
Supporting the firm's data protection activities across all practice areas.
Organising and chairing regular meetings with members of the team.
Keeping up-to-date with legal and commercial developments that affect the practice.
Writing the fortnightly internal update.
Assisting with the organisation, capture, review and creation of know-how and precedents and ensuring that these are loaded onto know-how systems.
Maintaining, drafting or commenting on standard documents, including assisting other PSLs on the data protection aspects of standard documents relating to their practice.
Maintaining, organising and updating the relevant practice pages on the intranet.
Designing and delivering training for fee earners, including trainees and NQs.
Assisting with data protection training designed and delivered by various other practice areas.
External facing: client publications, client training, client events, conferences and pitches
Organising and assisting with the firm's Data Protection and Privacy client events, including the annual Forum.
Assisting with the firm's participation in and attendance at external conferences and events.
Writing the bi-annual Data Protection and Privacy Newsletter.
Writing, or assisting with the regular writing of, ad hoc articles for journals and clients.
Preparing pitch documents and/or contributing content to firm-wide pitches.
Maintaining, organising and updating departmental brochures and the relevant sections of the external website.
ABOUT YOU
You will have an excellent academic record and broad experience of data protection. The successful candidate will have the ability to quickly acquire knowledge in and perform analysis of developing areas of law and practice.
