The company:
A leading global financial services firm are seeking an asset management lawyer, Vice President to support the legal team within one of their core asset management divisions.
The role:
The legal team in London supports the asset management business throughout the EMEA region and interacts greatly with the teams in the US and Asia. The role will involve acting as a key lawyer within the divisions legal team with responsibility for a range of work covering their core businesses and operations but with emphasis on the separate account business which includes negotiation of investment management agreements and related documentation. In addition, and given the fundamental developments in the market and in regulations worldwide applicable to the divisions business and the markets that it operates in, a key component of the role will also include contributing to the analysis of, and formulation of strategic responses to, the shifting legal and regulatory framework.
About you:
- Strong educational background.
- 3-6 years post qualification experience in a law firm or in an in-house role. Ideally, the candidate will have familiarity with FCA regulation of UK asset managers and as well as regulation applicable to international cross border investment management and funds businesses including UCITS, AIFMD, MiFID. Knowledge of trading and US regulation also useful but not essential.
- Team player with the ability to be pro-active in a challenging business environment, whilst adhering to firm policies and group practices.
- Personable and confident with ability to interact well directly with the business team and to take on responsibility for key business relationships.
- Interest in asset management business.
