An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Housing Litigation Lawyer to work on a locum basis with an East Midlands Local Authority.
This position is offered on an on-going basis but is guaranteed to last for a minimum of two months.
The ideal candidate will be able to handle a wide range of contentious matters with regards to Housing law. The successful candidate will be able to undertake their own advocacy and draft a wide range of legal documents. Applicants must be qualified and hold the relevant practicing certificate from their awarding body.
Specific duties will include:
- Advise council departments on matters relating to housing litigation including landlord & tenant, disrepair, forfeiture, bankruptcy, insolvency and ASB etc
- Defend Judicial Review Cases
- Handle injunctions & possessions claims, including trespass, unlawful occupation, boundary disputes, proceedings against travellers, license issues and damage to properties
- Deal with all aspects of Right to Buy, including recovery of repair and service charges
- Deal with forfeiture cases, repair disputes and service charges at the First Tier Tribunal and Lands Tribunal
- Prepare statements of cases ranging from particulars of claim to applications made for strike out/summary judgement, defences, witness statements, chronologies, skeleton arguments and trial
This role offers a rate of £20 - £30 per hour, dependant on experience.
