Planning Solicitor (Locum)

Our client is a local authority legal team based in Suffolk. We are helping them secure an experienced Planning Solicitor to work on a long term locum basis whilst they recruit permanently. They are happy to guarantee a minimum of 6 months for the post holder but the post is highly likely to run on beyond this.

The client is willing to consider a range of working options. Ideally the post holder will be able to work 37 hours a week, but as a minimum they will consider three working days on site. Homeworking is fine after an initial bedding- in period of 4 – 6 weeks.

Applicants must be qualified and hold the relevant practicing certificate. Local Government experience is not essential but candidates must have a minimum of 2 year's experience servicing a planning and/or environmental caseload.

Duties will include:

• Assisting the council on various contentious and non contentious planning applications
• Advising at Planning Committee
• Occasionally dealing with Judicial Review matters
• Advising on Planning Appeal Inquiries
• Negotiating and drafting various section 106 Agreements
• Dealing with certificate of lawfulness of existing or proposed use or development
