A commercial contracts solicitor is sought by a Midlands law firm, ideally to start as soon as possible but they will wait for the right candidate (i.e. those with 3 month notice periods).

Client Details

A long established high street law firm.

Description

Commercial contracts role are typically associated with larger corporate law firms and in-house organisations and, as a result, these roles can often be demanding with lawyers struggling to find that work/life balance.

We are working with a high street law firm who are looking to bring in an experienced commercial lawyer. It's a full service firm with a number of Partners so they are by no means small. They are also long established and very well known in the Midlands market.

The role will be a bit different. The clients won't be blue chip companies or huge SMEs but they've got an established client base of commercial minded companies who are very busy and have a lot of projects in the pipeline. The firm need to bring in an experienced commercial lawyer to front these projects and advise other clients on day-to-day ad hoc commercial matters.

You'll typically be expected to get involved with the full range of commercial law such as terms and conditions, agency agreements, licence agreements and anything else that comes in from their business clients. You'll have full client exposure and the opportunity to help shape the direction of the department.

The key sell here for the firm is the work/life balance. They are a high street firm so the hours and your commitment will reflect that. They work exceptionally hard and are busy enough for you to be fully utlisied but they won't expect you to be working weekends or late nights.

This role could well suit somebody who is disillusioned with the larger firm/organisation culture and is open to trying something different.

What they can offer you is:

* Ideally a full time position but will consider part-time

* Working for a firm that is not fixated on targets

* A strong support network from secretaries - you won't be doing your own admin work

* Progression opportunities - again, there are lots of examples of people who have progressed at the firm and the Partners are happy to talk about the career path at the firm

* No client following needed - they are busy and confident of pipeline

* Competitive salary

Profile

You'll be able to work on your own accord and be a confident drafter.

You could either be working at a small firm but looking for more salary and progression opportunities. Or you could be a lawyer at a larger firm / in-house organisation who wants to work at a smaller outfit and is not precious about moving away from the more blue chip clients.

Job Offer

They can be competitive on salary for the right person.
