Senior Legal Counsel 

£80,000 - £85,000 depending on experience plus excellent benefits

We are a leading insurance company, based in Stratford upon Avon, and wish to make a new appointment reporting to the General Counsel and Company Secretary. We are seeking a Commercial/Technology lawyer who will be responsible for providing commercially focussed advice on a range of legal issues and drafting and negotiating contracts.

The company is undertaking a large number of major change programmes, many of which are underpinned by new technology, and this has resulted in a significant increase in the work of the legal team. The Senior Legal Counsel will manage this team (currently four permanent and three interim solicitors), which forms part of a department providing legal, company secretarial, pensions, and health and safety services. They will also work with our panel law firms to achieve the optimum mix of in-house and external advice. 

The ideal candidate will have trained and worked at a leading UK law firm and have a minimum of seven years PQE and a 2.1 degree. They will be able to operate at a senior level and be familiar with a broad range of complex, commercial and technology work. They will also have experience of managing and mentoring other lawyers. Experience of working in or for a PRA/FCA regulated business would be a distinct advantage but this is not essential.
