In-House Senior Employment Counsel – Global Brand – Bristol
About
A new and rare opportunity has arisen for a Senior Employment Counsel to join a global brand! Based near the city of Bristol, our client is award winning and one of the leading employers in the region.
You will work in a dynamic and very successful team and enjoy covering the whole spectrum of employment law, including both non-contentious and contentious issues in the EU region. You can also expect to handle wider general commercial issues and other areas of work including advertising queries.
You will have a Junior Counsel reporting into you and can expect to handle their appraisals and general management. You will report to the Head of Legal, work closely with the board, global legal team and the HR function.
Accountabilities
- You will take lead on the employment law function with the group as a global adviser!
- You will build relationships with internal as well as external stakeholders
- Provide support to corporate as well as commercial transactions, in relation to restructuring, redundancies, reorganisations and TUPE
- Manage litigation and contentious matters across the UK & EU, as well as Regional General Counsels on contentious matters in other regions
- Advise Draft, review and negotiate employment contracts as well as settlement agreements
- Liaise closely with HR and ensure the business is up to date with developments in employment law – advise HR on policy changes
- on employee relation matters including grievance and disciplinary processes
- Deliver training and workshops to the business
- Collaborate with the wider commercial team and provide support on general commercial and IP matters
Requirements
- 6 years PQE – 10 years*
- Must have experience and knowledge in employment law (contentious & non-contentious)
- In-house experience exposure
- Previous management responsibilities
