A leading European private bank are looking to bring on a Legal Counsel to join their in-house legal team in the City of London for a 6 month contract.
About the role
The Legal Counsel will report into the Head of Legal, working as part of the wider in-house legal team to provide legal support to the Securities business across a broad range of products, including IPOs and ECM transactions.
Key responsibilities
- Providing legal support to the bank's Securities business, which will cover equity research, equity sales, private banking and equity capital markets
- Providing oversight and advice in relation to regulatory issues such as MIFID II
- Dealing with a variety of diverse issues on an ad hoc basis
- Acting as the first point of contact within the London branch for stakeholders in relation to all UK legal matters
- Coordinating external advisors as needed
- Engaging with various support functions that require/use legal advice (e.g. Compliance, HR and Operations)
About you
The successful Legal Counsel will have extensive legal experience within a financial services organisation, preferably in either private banking, investment banking or equity capital markets and a background of working at a top tier law firm. You will be a good team worker, be able to demonstrate strong project management skills, have a hands-on attitude and be able to manage a varied workload.
