My client is a highly regarded barristers’ chambers with 65 tenants, one newly appointed silk and two associate silks.
Members of chambers practice in all areas of family and related law, including private and public children law, financial and property proceedings associated with marriage or partnership breakdown, court of protection law, international movement of children, law relating to alternative families and human rights law. Chambers has a developing mediation and dispute resolution practice and a growing volume of work is undertaken through direct access. Chambers has a clear commitment to client service and care.
Following a strategic business review, Chambers is seeking to appoint a highly suitable candidate to the newly created position of Chambers Director.
Working closely with the Heads of Chambers, Executive Board, Members and the Senior Clerk, this senior leadership role will:
- shape the future vision of the set through strong leadership
- create and implement innovative business development and marketing strategies
- lead the on-going and effective development of the organisation and its systems
- ensure Coram Chambers is best placed to meet and exceed the challenges and opportunities of an evolving legal service market
- take responsibility for the provision of an efficient and effective business service to chambers’ clients and members
- be responsible for the effective leadership, management and continued development of all clerking and administrative staff
Suitable candidates will have a strong track record of delivering at a senior level in a chambers, legal or professional services management role. They will have demonstrable strategic and business development skills, allied to excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience of business and financial management and IT is also required.
The successful candidate will be able to balance the need to develop and maintain strength and a cutting edge in the business sphere whilst at the same time protecting chambers' highly-regarded collegiate and principled approach to the work they do.
