My client is on the lookout for an experienced conveyancer to join its prestigious residential team in Poundbury, Dorset.

Nestled on the outskirts of Dorchester, this established legal firm is a leader in the property law field. However, it has also branched out into wills, probate, and construction law. As such, you will be able to access an extensive knowledge base, while also having clear options for progression.

You will be expected to maintain the highest legal standards while serving as the principal case handler on a number of transactions. You should also be ready to embrace new technology and practices that are emerging in this exciting sector, while understanding that a proactive, friendly service must be provided to clients at all times.

The ideal residential fee earner in Dorchester will:

  • Meet all allocated targets through accurate and efficient working practices
  • Provide top-notch legal advice
  • Deal with a range of residential conveyancing matters
  • Apply best practices and procedures
  • Keep up to date with changes in legislation and pass on this knowledge to colleagues
  • Draft and approve correspondence and other legal documents
  • Maintain accurate files using the firm’s case management system (CMS)
  • Deal with telephone calls promptly and professionally
  • Ensure that the file ledger is correct at all times
  • Handle all post-completion matters in a timely manner
  • Make sure that financial documents are prepared accurately

In order to be successful in this residential conveyancer role, you should have:

  • A minimum of two years’ conveyancer experience
  • A methodical, accurate approach
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Financial acumen
  • Solid customer-service skills
  • A flexible working manner with the ability to multitask
  • A clear understanding of the Solicitors’ Code of Conduct
  • Experience of achieving set targets in a team
  • Desirably, experience of handling a large caseload
  • A clear understanding of the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules
  • Experience of using a CMS or similar database
  • MS Word and Outlook skills
  • The ability to meet deadlines while under pressure
