I am currently working with a well-established law firm in Manchester, which is searching for a Central Registry/General Office Assistant to help support its busy team.

My client operates across a range of industries, including surveying, charities, and health, so this is a great chance for an experienced admin to work in a dynamic legal environment. In this role, your time will be split between helping two teams: the central registry and general office. As such, your responsibilities will differ slightly between departments.

In the central registry, you will be:

  • Handling the registration of deeds into the firm’s records management system
  • Managing the destruction of files, following set policies
  • Sending deeds and files to be archived and processed
  • Helping to transfer files out of storage, if required
  • Providing IT support
  • Setting up PCs and phones
  • Supporting colleagues with file retrieval
  • Troubleshooting in-office issues, with support from service desk
  • Assisting the office manager

Meanwhile, in the general office you will be:

  • Helping with the preparation of post, including setting up couriers
  • Processing and distributing incoming mail
  • Scanning, photocopying, binding, and printing documents
  • Assisting front-of-house staff to prepare for events and meetings
  • Any other administrative and housekeeping tasks, if required

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and bright, with a positive attitude and a flexible approach to work. They will also be a solid communicator, who can effectively prioritise work to meet deadlines. This Manchester-based office assistant should also have a strong attention to detail, while being a committed team player who can apply common sense, when needed. They should also understand that much of the work will be handling confidential information and documents, as well as often working with minimal supervision. Knowledge of MS packages, such as Outlook, Word, and Excel would prove beneficial.
