This highly respected practice, which specialises in property law but has also branched out into probate, wills, and construction matters, requires a paralegal in Dorset to proactively drive conveyancing instructions forward to exchange and completion. Based at its Poundbury office, you will actively liaise between all parties, including conveyancers and agents, and:
- Check all mortgage offers, ensuring compliance with conditions

- Meet any and all deadlines in a timely manner
- Update schedules, files, and work systems promptly and accurately
- Conduct post-completion check
- Deal with calls within set times and log details
- Chase up and handle all contracts and paperwork, as instructed by senior staff
- Make sure that all financial documents are prepared ad completed on time and to set standards
You will also be expected to provide assistance to the firm in general, if directed by management. As such, you will be proactive and flexible, while committed to both your own development and that of colleagues.
In order to be successful within this Dorchester paralegal position, you should have:
- At least two years’ experience in an office
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- An overall knowledge of conveyancing practice and procedure
- An understanding of property law
- Solid customer-service skills
- Knowledge of MS Word and Outlook
- The ability to multitask
- An organised, logical approach to paralegal work
- A positive, enthusiastic attitude
- The ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Both financial and written accuracy
Desirably, you would also have picked up general legal knowledge, preferably by working as a paralegal or conveyancing secretary. You should ideally have financial acumen, as well as caseload experience. It would also help if you have worked in teams to meet overall targets, and have used a case management system to input key data.
This role is open to legal professionals who are newly qualified or have gained the necessary experience, with a number of progression and development options available.
