Your new company
This charitable company are seeking an in-house lawyer to work closely at the heart of their business, providing legal expertise alongside the Company Secretary & Legal Counsel. They provide an information service for the procurement of expertise, analysis and bespoke information. This data is then provided to UK governments and higher education funding bodies to support their work in regulating and funding higher education providers. Your new role
Reporting to the Legal Counsel and Company Secretary, you will be a key member of the team with primary responsibility for legal and contractual matters for their Operations business. Your duties will include drafting contracts, including data sharing agreements, taking responsibility for tasks delegated by the Company Secretary & Legal Counsel in relation to Board and other regulatory matters and providing professional assistance in drafting and negotiating complex, strategically important contracts. Other aspects of your role will include assisting with governance issues and monitoring them to highlight potential risk areas, providing advice to others, at all levels, in the business in relation to contracts and the terms contained and issues that arise in such contracts. Where necessary you will lead and/or work with external counsel and liaise with senior civil servants and contacts at public bodies and their legal advisors.

What you will need to succeed
You will possess contracts/commercial experience gained within a leading law firm or in-house legal team, likely to have been gained through NQ - 2 years plus qualified experience. Experienced Paralegals will also be considered. You will also possess sharp commercial acumen and relish working closely with the business in a modern, technology focused environment ; experience in drafting and negotiating contracts and some knowledge of data protection law would be a distinct advantage. Company secretary experience would also be welcomed.
