I am currently working with a well-established client who is currently looking to recruit a Legal Secretary/ Paralegal/ Legal Executive with a strong background in Commercial Property. The role is based in Shrewsbury and the salary for the role is negotiable depending on experience.

Role

The purpose of the role will be to work closely with the company secretary and group solicitor. Primarily working with the company's property activities you will be involved in a range of legal activities including compiling standard documentation, maintaining accurate records and files in addition to providing support as required on other company related legal activities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with compilation of standard documentation and information packs for property developments (both freehold and leasehold) including preparing replies to CPSEs
  • Draft legal documents using standard documentation and precedents
  • Proof reading documentation
  • Lodging search applications and reporting on the results
  • Preparing Land Registry and SDLT forms and completion statements
  • Assist with matter including conducting legal research
  • Assist with company administration work such as preparing standard form minutes, issuing share certificates and writing up company books (training available)
  • Interpreting and advising on commercial arrangements including terms of trading and banking arrangements
  • Providing assistance to support HR activities and the Board generally
  • Assisting to support the general trading activities of the Group from a legal perspective
  • Supervising the operation of the legal department fling system both paper and electronic
  • Supervising the opening of new legal files (paper files and computer files) and dealing efficiently with the organising and storing/ filing pf paperwork, documents and computer-based information
  • Using a diary reminder/ management system to ensure deadlines are met
  • Engrossing/ binding final form documents
  • Closing and archiving files and maintaining a database or archived files
  • Maintaining deed packs/ property folders and maintaining deeds database
  • Answering telephone calls and dealing with enquiries via email, fax and letter
  • Providing admin support to the Senior Solicitor
  • Production of letters and legal documents working from both notes and occasional dictation

Essential Criteria

  • Experience of working within a legal environment
  • Discretion - dealing with confidential information and maintaining confidentiality
  • Ability to deal with large amounts of information and work on several tasks at the same time
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate and present information clearly and concisely both verbal and written
  • High level of accuracy and good attention to detail
  • Ability to plan and manage own workload
  • Ability and willingness to follow instruction and learn new tasks
  • Ability work well under pressure without sacrificing attention to detail
  • Work effectively as part of team but with minimal supervision
  • Open minded and willing to be flexible towards the on-going development of the role
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office/Outlook/Excel etc.
  • Willingness to undergo internal and external training
  • Inquisitive mind happy to engage in independent study in support of ongoing development and training
