Sole Legal Counsel

My client is a Japanese owned organisation which comprises of a portfolio of the UK's leading pawn broking, financial services and jewellery brands. With over 100 stores across the UK, trading in everything from luxury handbags and jewellery, gold buying and cheque cashing this is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious in-house Counsel or an private practice lawyer looking to make their first in house move.

A the sole Legal Counsel you will be setting up the legal function with responsibilities to include:

• Drafting, reviewing, negotiating and concluding a broad range of commercial contracts
• Drafting relevant policies
• Assisting with development of relevant products
• Advising on FCA Rules and Regulations
• Provide support to the Compliance Officer and providing general legal support across all areas of the business as required

Ideally you will:

• Be a UK qualified lawyer either in private practice or in house
• Commercial contracts experience is essential
• Regulatory experience is essential, partoculary the FCA
• Exposure to the retail industry is desirable
• Experience of consumer credit is desirable
• Some in-house experience is desirable
• Experience in consumer lending is desirable
