An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Principal Locum Commercial Contracts & Procurement Solicitor to join a Local Authority in the West Midlands for a locum period of 6 months plus.

The successful candidate will need to have significant procurement and commercial experience, preferably gained in a local government setting. Previous management / supervisory experience are also required.

The successful candidate will be required to pick up a case-load of high profile and challenging commercial/procurement projects which have director and Member involvement so you will need to be proactive and self-reliant as well as work as part of a wider team.

You will be responsible for matters which may include:

- Procurement of a new Children and Adult Social Care ICT system including the appointment of a ‘change partner' to implement and embed the new system.
- Restructuring of Leisure Services
- Procurement for a new health centre
- Setting up a new funeral director company

This role should appeal to someone who is looking for a challenging and stimulating case-load of matters.

A key part of this role will be to manage and guide the established commercial team, and take the lead on major projects.

This role offers a rate of £40 - £50 per hour (umbrella/limited company basis). Candidates without Local Government experience are welcome to apply provided they can demonstrate knowledge of public and EU procurement law and are happy to be competitive on their hourly rate accordingly.
