Legal Counsel - Insurance - German Speaking
A leading insurance solutions provider is seeking an experienced In-house Counsel to join their underwriting team. Reporting into the Managing Director, this role will include work relating to marketing, underwriting and the negotiation of cross border international M&A transactional insurance, taking a lead role in the German market. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with at least 4 years* experience as a lawyer, finance or transaction professional, who wants to assume a leadership role.
Daily duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Implementing the underwriting and marketing strategy for Warranty & Indemnity insurance relative to risks located in Germany and the wider EMEA region.
- Marketing products by regarding Warranty & Indemnity insurance to brokers, law firms, other transaction related professionals through presentations and attending conferences
- Informing the underwriting committee, the Managing Director and in-house counsel of underwriting issues in order to formulate marketable alternatives
- Drafting, preparing and negotiating policy wording, maintaining accurate records of policies
The ideal candidate will be a German qualified lawyer and/or a confident German speaker, able to draft & negotiate contracts in German. You must also be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, an acute grasp on the operation of transaction documents and experience mitigating risk in M&A transactions.
