Locum Childcare Solicitor.

Venn Group's specialist legal team are recruiting for a Childcare Solicitor, Barrister or FILEx to join a local authority in the East Midlands. This is an on-going contract where the successful applicant can expect to be in post for a minimum of 3 months.

Applications are welcomed from qualified Solicitors, Barristers or Legal Executives and due to the nature of the role, experience within the public sector is preferred. The ideal candidate will have previous experience advising on public matters either on behalf of children or parents & guardians. Private practice candidates who have been dealing with public law matters in their recent career are encouraged to apply, especially if they are keen to build upon their experience within local government.
Duties will include but are not limited to:

• Dealing with a wide range of Childcare Law matters and advising the client department as required
• Taking responsibility for a personal caseload that will include pre–proceedings in care and adoption proceedings, child protection/safeguarding and private law cases
• Conduct advocacy on contested and non-contested matters at Case Management Hearings, Issue Resolution Hearings and Final Hearings in Family Courts.
• Appearing in court regularly at the Family Proceedings Court and County Court
• Drafting legal documents such as threshold criteria, care applications and statements in the course of proceedings
• Regularly attending case conferences, legal planning meetings and safeguarding meetings

A rate of £30- 40 can be expected for this role however this will be dependant upon experience.
