My client is a leading Fintech business which specialises in providing Blockchain technology to payment providers. The business is currently expanding with ambitious development plans where they now require the assistance of a mid-level IP lawyer to focus on IP/IT/data protection. You will report directly to the Head of Legal and will play a fundamental role with the decision-making processes whilst advising the Product and Strategic teams with their exciting launches in 2017.
The Role
You will work alongside the Head of Legal to be primarily responsible for its legal and regulatory responsibilities and to ensure the business complies with IP, names, marks and devices used as part of the transactional process. The working environment is challenging and any candidate will be expected to be a self-starter and confident. You will focus on complex legal documents which are critical blockchain systems agreements; technology/IP development agreements and licenses, outsourcing/managed services agreements and general sales and procurement agreements. You will act as deputy Company Secretary, preparing agenda's for and arranging meetings of the board and all of its official sub-committees
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will have thorough commercial experience gained within Software/technology licensing and application with good IP/IT knowledge within Data Protection would be advantageous. You must have solid legal training from a reputable city law firm ideally with some experience and knowledge of payment systems and banking / financial services environment. Must be a very commercially savvy lawyer with the ability to offer pragmatic solutions to the business and work with the business in finding solutions to legal, contractual and business issues. It's important to have strong communication skills and having the confidence to present in both formal and informal situations. This is not a 9 - 5 organisation and the candidate would be able to work on a flexible basis and can work from home to focus on complex contracts.
