My client a major Entertainment Group seeks a Head Of Privacy to manage and implement ROW policy.

This position will suit someone at Junior Partner or 12+ years PQE in-house. The candidate will have full autonomy and responsibility for rolling out Privacy by design, GDPR readiness, BCRs as well as looking at data protection policies for all jurisdictions outside of North America.

The successful candidate will need strong technical knowledge as most of the work will be kept in-house, they will also need an ability to lead and manage non legal people and projects. Ideally candidates will also have an interest in digital content and media.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on compliance across all aspects of worlwide data governance and privacy law and regulation, including data protection, data retention, data security and data breach rules.
  • Assist in the continued development and improvement of all aspects of international data governance programme (data transfers, processing, privacy policies, staff training, etc.).
  • Provide specialist consultation and support to other key functions (IT, Marketing Partnerships, Client Sales teams).
  • Advise on, draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts including software licensing, support and maintenance agreements, website advertising and linking agreements, marketing agreements and competitions and prize draws.
  • Advise on a variety of issues facing an ecommerce consumer facing company such as distance selling, consumer regulations and intellectual property.

Requirements

Skills / Knowledge / Experience

  • Qualified lawyer with excellent academic credentials.
  • Significant in-depth, data governance experience in the UK with a good working knowledge of other European jurisdictions, Asia, Russia, Australia and New Zealand.
  • Experience in technology and e-commerce, new media, advertising, licensing and sponsorship.
  • A solid grounding in commercial law and contract law.
  • Comfortable drafting, reviewing and negotiating the broad range of commercial contracts referred to above.
  • A sound understanding of new media technologies and IT systems
