Profile:

As an IP lawyer you will be responsible for UEFA's brand and trademark protection and enforcement procedures (in particular anti-counterfeiting activities), developing and implementing legal strategies and providing legal advice to all units of UEFA (also in relation to the creation of new brands and other intellectual property rights), in consultation with other members of UEFA's Legal Affairs division and colleagues in other divisions.

Purpose:

  • Developing and maintaining UEFA's trademark portfolio and other intellectual property rights;
  • Providing legal advice in relation to the creation of new brands and IP rights;
  • Drafting and reviewing regulatory and contractual provisions for the protection of UEFA's trademarks and brands;
  • Developing and implementing trademark and brand protection strategies, programmes and initiatives, monitoring the use of UEFA's trademarks by third parties (in particular on the internet, social media and digital platforms) and managing trademark oppositions;
  • Managing off-site and on-site rights protection programmes, with an emphasis on (i) liaising with enforcement authorities (in particular customs and local authorities) and external legal counsels, (ii) legal enforcement actions, (iii) litigation and (iv) communication;
  • Providing assistance in other areas and on special projects assigned by the Head of Event Legal Services and members of the Marketing Legal Services unit.

Requirements:

Experience required:

  • from 3 to 5 years experience in managing international IP issues (in-house or in private practice).

Education:

  • Qualified lawyer with specific IP qualifications or strong experience as a trademark agent. In-depth knowledge of the international IP environment is required
