Our clients are a leading regional law firm

They are looking to recruit a Legal Secretary/Paralegal to support the Family Team in St Austell. You will need to have a flexible approach and the ability to work within a team environment.

You will be working as both a Legal Secretary and a Paralegal within the Family Team, covering both fee earning and administration duties. You will need to have a flexible approach and the ability to work within a team environment. You must be able to produce accurate typing by means of digital dictation and other means, and you will be responsible for routine client telephone enquiries as well as general secretarial duties.

Other duties include, but are not limited to, attending client meetings, attending court with barrister, preparing notes of meetings, preparing letters, helping manage fee earner diaries, making appointments and chasing up clients for responses.

All fee earning work generated would be supervised and checked by the relevant fee earner.

You will be expected to be self-supporting, and in that regard you will need a good typing speed and good ICT skills.

This position would suit an experienced Legal Secretary wanting to move into a Paralegal role or a Paralegal with a strong Legal Secretary background. Training will be provided on the job so the right candidate does not necessarily need paralegal experience.

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a focus on exceptional client care. The position would suit someone who is highly organised, accurate, proactive and committed to meeting deadlines while remaining calm under pressure. Excellent all round communication skills, professional telephone manner and attention to detail is essential.

Previous experience of working in a Family team is an advantage.
