In house Legal Counsel, Maritime Industry, UAE

The Company – we are an international company active in the maritime industry, undertaking offshore construction, heavy lift, accommodation and/or decommissioning projects within the oil and gas sector. We are currently seeking to supplement our management team in the UAE with an experienced and commercially adept In house Legal Counsel.

The primary purpose of the role is provide legal and regulatory advice across the business to company stakeholders. The role involves oversight of compliance and legal risk management in both the execution of commitments and transactions by the company.

CANDIDATE:

We are seeking an experienced and self-directed individual, who we envisage will possess the following:

• A tertiary degree in law and have substantial business experience in corporate and maritime law
• Ideally possessing a PQE between 10 – 15 years
• Global professional consulting firm and/or law firm training/work experience, gained either within the UK, Australia or the US (strongly preferred).
• Several years working at a senior level in an in-house capacity preferably within the maritime and/or oil and gas sector.
• International commercial experience
• Full comprehension of the influences of the external environment of a corporation
• Demonstrated ability to create legal defensive or proactive strategies
• High degree of professional ethics and integrity
• Pro-active and hands-on mentality.
• Ability to work independently
• Sound judgement and ability to analyse situations and information
• Outstanding communication skills
