In House Counsel (0-4 PQE)

In-House Counsel, West Midlands, Commercial Lawyer, Attractive Package

This is a superb career opportunity for a commercial lawyer (0-4 years PQE) seeking a varied in-house role. The client is open to candidates from both in-house and practice backgrounds.

This is a newly created role where you will provide customer focused support in relation to complex commercial contracts with third parties. Moreover you will:

• Work closely with external organisations and senior decision makers internally in negotiating, drafting and advising on the terms of large commercial contracts.
• Assist generally with external legal advisor relationships.
• Provide support on other legal issues such as litigation, intellectual property, data protection and compliance.
• Support the delivery of training to colleagues on legal issues.
• Develop standard agreements and procedures to ensure timely and effective advice is provided to the business.
• Support the development of systems to best manage the legal advice required by the business.
• Monitor relevant developments in legislation and industry practice with specific focus on NHS, healthcare and public procurement.
• Provide updates to the legal team and the business as required.

To be successful in this role you will ideally have the following skills and experience:

• Between 1 to 3 years PQE.
• The ability to provide pragmatic advice to a large and complex business.
• A thorough knowledge of UK contract law.
• The ability to manage time and workload independently as well as being able to work as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and organisation skills.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft office packages, word, excel and PowerPoint.
• Previous experience advising on large public procurement contracts is desirable but not essential.
