Brief Description of Role:
Kennedys are looking for a commercially minded dispute resolution lawyer to handle and assist in handling of marine insurance litigation, including commodities disputes. The role will assist Christopher Dunn, Head of Kennedys Marine, and Andrew Purssell, Partner. This person will be expected to maintain excellent client relationships and be involved in marketing/business development activities. Some overseas travel may be required.
Team Information:
Kennedys’ Marine team provide assistance to international clients on a comprehensive range of marine insurance as well as commodities disputes, FD & D claims and reinsurance. The team handles all aspects of marine insurance, shipping and transport and logistic matters.
Type of Clients: Lloyd’s syndicates, London market and international insurance and reinsurance companies, charterers, ports and terminal operators, freight forwarders, marine service providers, commodity traders, cargo owners and their insurers.
Type of Cases: Wide variety of disputes across all classes of marine and political risks; wet and dry shipping disputes; insurance policy, commercial contract drafting, and warehouse disputes.

Qualifications:
Essential:
- Qualified Solicitor
- Strong Academics (2.1 or higher degree) or equivalent.
Experience:
Essential:
- 3-5 years* experience of insurance dispute resolution/marine law/shipping.
Desirable:
- Experience of marine insurance gained at a recognised practice.
- Familiarity with arbitration and Court procedures.
- Knowledge of international conventions relevant to the carriage of goods.
- File management.
- To have had previous client contact and attendance at business development events.
