A well regarded Sheffield Law Firm is recruiting for an experienced Personal Injury Lawyer or Legal Executive to join the Personal Injury team. The successful candidate will bring a proven consistent billing history and experience of dealing with Litigated Claimant EL and PL matters. Knowledge of Conditional Fee Agreements and experience of using a Case Management System are essential. Experience of working in a target driven commercial environment would also be an advantage.
Role:
Working alongside the existing Litigation team you will manage your own caseload; predominately consisting of Employers' Liability and Public Liability claims. However it is expected that you will handle other litigated cases and matters such as: drafting court applications, taking witness statements, as well as instructing experts and counsel. You'll also be expected to actively develop and maintain client relationships in conjunction with exercising high standards of client care in a professional manner.
Experience:
You will have previous experience in a similar Personal Injury role. You'll come from a strong background of dealing with Claimant Personal Injury matters and will be a Qualified Solicitor, Legal Executive or experienced Fee Earner; you will also possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and be a professional individual who takes a proactive approach. You will have a proven track record of dealing with claimant matters and a strong billing history.
Core responsibilities
- Handle a varied case load of out of Portal and litigated personal injury cases with appropriate levels of supervision. These will include cases where liability is disputed.
- Hit, maintain and apply a consistent approach to all individual targets of financial performance.
- Maintain an awareness of firm procedures and strategies.
- Assume responsibility for quality control and benchmark compliance on own caseload, including accuracy and timeliness of management reporting and information.
- Act as a point of contact for clients, demonstrating a level of knowledge and skill commensurate with experience.
- Maintain and develop technical knowledge through attendance at training sessions, reading appropriate publications.
- Support marketing and business development activity within the team e.g. attending marketing events and client training.
- Handle confidential information in line with the firm's data security protocols.
Key skills
- Experience of dealing with bodily injury claims and litigation is essential.
- Experience of working in a target driven commercial environment would also be an advantage.
- Excellent commercial awareness and an interest in broader business issues.
- Be able to identify market trends, to provide commercially rounded advice to clients and view things from a business perspective.
- Be flexible with an ability to adapt to rapid change, both internally and in the context of clients' businesses.
- Have excellent organisational skills and able to effectively prioritise and organise workload/tasks
- Have an ability to adopt a commercial perspective to legal issues
- Be able to produce work to a high standard, with excellent attention to detail
- Have a concern for quality of service
