Senior Legal Counsel
A very exciting opportunity has arisen within one of the world’s most reputable asset managers who are looking for a Senior Lawyer / Legal Counsel with 10 years’ post qualification experience* gained within a financial services institution or at a Senior Associate / Senior Lawyer level within private practice.
The Role:
This In House Legal Counsel / Lawyer role will be reporting directly the General Counsel and will be managing a team the responsibilities will include:
- Lead the legal support for the Investment Management group, distribution, and corporate initiatives
- Directly manage a small team of lawyers
- Negotiate documentation with distributors and platforms
- Support for local country registration of investment funds; advice regarding the distribution of products in EMEA region, Central Asia and the Far East
- Review of fund documentation; preparation of ancillary documentation (e.g. board papers and side letters)
- Build relationships with and work alongside firm’s Product Development, Product Management, Distribution, Operations, Compliance and Risk functions and other members of the Legal Team, as appropriate
- Assist with selection of external legal counsel and management of relationships with external law firms
- Assist with the identification of general corporate, tax, risk, insurance, regulatory, legal and compliance issues and retain and interface with outside counsel in order to render appropriate legal advice regarding the same
- Provide advice on UK and European regulations including MiFiD and MifiD 2
- Liaise with Legal, Compliance and Risk professionals to ensure that high quality advice is provided to the business worldwide
The Candidate:
- Qualified Lawyer / Legal Counsel with 10 years+ * post qualification experience
- Previous experience advising a Global Asset or Investment Management firm
- Solid experience in advising on cross-border regulatory and distribution matters
- Excellent knowledge of regulations affecting the EU (e.g. MiFID)
- Management experience is preferable
