Michael Page are looking for Lawyers that have Construction experience, that are able to also do the more mainstream commercial/procurement elements of the role. Contract forms are NEC/FIDIC typically but there are also bespoke contracts in the business. The type of work will centre around Construction projects, particularly Asset Maintenance and Asset Replacement on the Gas and Electricity Transmission networks.

Key requirements:

  • In House construction lawyer experience
  • To draft and negotiate large-scale construction and commercial contracts.
  • Extensive experience within procurement.
  • To advise on compliance with and general questions relating to the Utilities Contracts Regulations.
  • To provide procurement and contract law training to the business.
  • To proactively identify, manage and mitigate commercial, contractual, regulatory, procurement and competition law risks as applicable.
  • To provide guidance on good contract management and contract interpretation.
  • Profile

    For this in house construction lawyer position, we require candidates to have the following technical skills and experience:

  • Qualified solicitor or barrister.
  • Previously worked as an In House Construction Lawyer
  • Experience of advising on the Utilities Contracts Regulations.
  • Experience of advising on NEC and FIDIC forms of construction contracts.
  • Experience of providing training to businesses.
  • Excellent communicator, also able to listen effectively in a team or commercial environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of advising on all areas of business contracts and demonstrable experience of using such knowledge and experience to assess and understand the impact of any proposed changes on the contract as a whole.
  • Excellent contract drafting skills.
  • Capable of taking the lead on contract development and a credible voice in setting the overall strategy.
  • Effective project manager with ability to lead and deliver high profile and strategic projects with ability to influence through broad range of internal and external contacts.
  • Has sound commercial awareness of the environment in which utilities organisations operate, being sensitive to changes in the market.
  • Ability to manage and deliver against competing priorities.
  • Experience and strong track record in project, contract or relationship management.
