THE COMPANY
A leading commercial bank is seeking a 2-6 PQE Banking and Finance Lawyer to join their team. They are a full service bank and due to the generalist nature of the services they provide, they are also open to a derivatives or general in-house lawyer who is looking for a role providing a high level of responsibility.
THE ROLE
This In House Counsel / Lawyer role will be reporting directly to the Head of Legal and Compliance and will work alongside the wider team. This role will be dynamic and challenging and include a variety of work such as:
- Negotiate, advise on, prepare and conclude finance documentation in relation to bilateral/syndicated loan, guarantee, and other transactions;
- Negotiating brokerage terms of business, commission sharing arrangements, give-up agreements and electronic connectivity terms;
- Reviewing, drafting and negotiating of commercial contracts such as engagement letters, IP/IT agreements, NDAs and ad-hoc agreements;
- Providing general regulatory advice ensuring compliance with the UK regulatory bodies and the jurisdictions the business operates in;
- Work alongside the compliance team and other control functions, to provide legal input/assistance on new business initiatives, regulation implementation exercises and other internal projects;
- Liaise with external counsel and lawyers working in other jurisdictions.
THE CANDIDATE
- The ideal candidate will 2-6 PQE years+* Lawyer with experience within a Financial Services organisation or private practice firm
- Experience and demonstrable understanding of EU regulations is highly desirable but not essential
- The ability to speak Mandarin essential for this role
