Our role at the Equality and Human Rights Commission is to challenge discrimination, promote equality of opportunity and protect and promote human rights. Our issues have rarely been more topical; whether it's tackling pregnancy discrimination, the rise of hate crime following the Brexit vote or reducing the gender pay gap, our remit enable us to make a real difference in British society.
We are now looking for someone exceptional to join our legal team in a pivotal leadership role; who shares our values of fairness, dignity and respect and can work with us to build upon our achievements and ensure our ambitious vision becomes a reality
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director Legal has overall accountability for the Legal and Corporate Law and Governance functions, providing expert professional leadership and direction to the Legal Team in their delivery of the legal strategy and in their support of the business plan.
A bold and inspiring leader, you will ensure the provision of the highest quality legal advice and support on the exercise of any of the Commission's litigation and enforcement powers, provide advice on compliance with applicable regulatory frameworks and advise on any litigation that is threatened or brought against the Commission.
Professionally qualified, with a relevant degree/ postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience, you will have a detailed and authoritative knowledge of equality and human rights legislation, and a credible reputation and track record gained within the profession.
