An ambitious Financial Services Company in Greater Belfast/ County Down area are recruiting for a Senior Compliance Officer to join their ranks. This is a unique In House opportunity where you will form part of a tight knit team that will provide technical compliance support and advice to various business units in managing ongoing legal and regulatory obligations.

Your new role

In essence you will act as a liaison to provide support and compliance advice to the business in managing compliance requirements whilst adhering to tight deadlines.

This will include working closely with clients and internal departments to clearly understand and address business problems and issues. Your key responsibilities will include;

* Independently assessing routine as well as non-routine compliance issues and determine if and when to escalate to management.
* Reviewing and assessing compliance requirements on significant business projects,
* Communicating clearly and timely to business units the key compliance risks
* Market research and general business legislation
* Providing accurate and timely compliance advice and assistance, including interpretation of existing and proposed new guidance and legislation and propose how they should be implemented within the business units
* Assessment of compliance risks and controls in place by the business to mitigate the associated compliance risks
* Performing internal independent compliance reviews to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulation
* Addressing any ad hoc legal/compliance queries
* Completing ad hoc reports and duties as required by Management
* Providing detailed compliance progress reports to senior management
* Assisting with engagement with Regulatory Bodies and themed inspections
* Working independently or with minimal supervision and make decisions on medium level risk.

What you'll need to succeed

* Qualified Solicitor or previous experience in a Compliance Officer role
* 5+ years compliance and regulatory experience
* Strong knowledge of UK legal and regulatory environment
* Very strong analytical and research skills
* Excellent report writing and communication skills
* Excellent knowledge of microsoft packages-including use of Visio
* Ability to work in team environment or on own initiative (as required)
* Strong problem solving skills
* Self-motivated, able to plan and prioritise workload in order to achieve deadlines
* Ability to represent the Company publicly and with confidence
* Ability to balance a number of conflicting priorities and make decisions

Desirable

A compliance or insurance related qualification would be desirable but not essential
