This global payments (Fintech) businesses is going through radical business change and now seeks the support of an experienced Head of Compliance to develop the framework and management of an existing Compliance Team. You will focus on the Compliance Plan, Monitoring Plan, Reporting / governance arrangements and the recruitment and management of the Compliance team. Candidates must have thorough AML/KYC experience.
The Role
You will have direct report to the General Counsel and will be responsible for ensuring the business is aware of and takes steps to comply with all relevant financial services laws and regulations. This role is very varied and covers a wide range compliance issues relating to IT/Software and to implement best practice compliance rules into functional requirements for the product development teams. You will need to ensure a regular upkeep of rules and regulations (both in the UK and overseas), with a view to reviewing, creating, implementing and/or updating required compliance and best practice procedures and policies in a timely manner. As Head of Compliance you will be required to demonstrate regular Compliance reporting to management in relation to the regulatory risks directly and indirectly affecting the business and updates as to how the risks are being managed effectively. As part of your role, you will be required to deal with UK Regulators and develop a strong working relationship with FCA, and with the co-ordination of requests for regulatory information, visits, examinations etc. You will continually identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability to ensure it will not cause risk and impact the business commercially this will be implemented using corrective action plans for resolution, where based on your general guidance, to best avoid these situations from reoccurring.
The Candidate
Must have gained a minimum of 5 years' experience in compliance and/or legal background with a primary focus on AML/KYC and OFAC. The ideal candidate will come from the financial services sector with credible experience of working in a regulated financial services environment, ideally from a payments/Fintech background. Must have current experience in Money Laundering legislation and regulations with the ability to draft documents of varying length in a clear and precise manner. Must have management experience as you will head up a team of 3 compliance professionals. Candidate applications with experience of a card issuing and acquiring environment advantageous but not essential. Must be a pragmatic professional having an ability to understand the importance of commercial risk and be confident to present to the board members.
