Law Costs Draftsman

My client’s firm are currently seeking to appoint a Law Costs Draftsman to join our team. The successful candidate will have at least 2 years costs drafting and negotiation experience in Clinical Negligence, EL/PL and/or Housing Disrepair work.

About the role

Due to continued expansion we are now seeking an experienced Law Costs Draftsman to assist fee earners with the preparation of costs claims for submission to opposing third parties, solicitors or the courts. You may be required to undertake negotiations and instruct advocates to deal with costs proceedings.

Main responsibilities

• Drafting and serving of bills to be assessed on a standard basis across a range of claims including RTA, Clinical Negligence, Housing Disrepair and EL/PL
• Drafting of precedent H cost budgets for Multi Track team
• Approval of Fixed Recoverable Costs bills and Part 8 Claim Forms / Costs assessment proceedings in relation to costs arising out of FRC or portal costs
• Negotiating costs over the telephone and via written communication
• Preparing incurred time / obtaining estimates for Precedent H Budgets / assisting on budget cases 
• Producing Replies to Points of Dispute using relevant case law
• Use of the Proclaim case management system
