Brief Description of Role:
We are looking for a Litigation Assistant to assist the team on a large variety of cases, to include insurance coverage disputes, construction claims, professional negligence, life and health and subrogated recovery actions. It will be a busy role, working across the full range of claims.

This is a great opportunity to gain exposure to a large number of legal issues and to gain experience from working directly with different partners and solicitors as demand requires. There is scope for increased responsibilities for the right candidate.

Team Information:
The team handles a wide range of insurance disputes and litigation with a client base that includes general insurers, global composites, Lloyd's syndicates, self-insured PLCs and self-insuring government bodies.

Type of Cases:

  • Providing advice to liability insurers in connection with claims arising from damages to property caused by fire, flood, explosions, vibration and subsidence.
  • Acting on behalf of product liability insurers in relation to claims regarding defective design and manufactured products that have lead to property damage, business interruption and personal injury.
  • Subrogated recovery actions for a wide range of insurers, developers, building owners, public authority, educational institutions and owners and commercial insurers.
  • Providing advice on professional indemnity claims brought against a range of professionals and particularly those in law, accountancy, construction, insurance and financial services.
  • Providing advice to life and health insurers on claims related to critical illness, income protection, personal accident and life policies.

Requirements of the Role:

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Strong Academics (A Levels, degree or equivalent)

Experience:

Essential:

  • Strong IT skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel)
  • Strong organisational skills

Desirable:

  • Previous litigation experience gained within a law firm
  • Previous case management experience
  • Client contact, in particular liaising with witnesses and counsel

Skills and Abilities:

Essential:

  • Ability to multi-task
  • Attention to detail with high level of accuracy
  • Ability to carry out instructions with minimal supervision
  • Initiative to support and assist team members
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to manage own time, excellent organisation skills
