THE COMPANY
A leader in its field, this AIM listed company operates internationally.
THE ROLE
An in house commercial legal adviser is now sought to join a growing Legal & Compliance team on a 12 month fixed term contract basis initially - although this may extend.
You will be responsible for providing legal support to the Group in relation to its commercial affairs and provide commercially focussed and high quality legal advice as follows:
On a range of UK and international commercial contracts with customers, contractors and suppliers
The protection and management of its portfolio of trademarks and domain names
On advertising and marketing copy clearance, opt-in/out permissions wording, websites
On general data protection and privacy matters
To understand the Group's strategy, its operational and commercial needs and, accordingly, its needs for legal advice
To assess, plan and prioritise all legal work and, where necessary, instruct external legal counsel to provide value-for-money support
To deliver all legal services on time and budget
To effectively identify, assess and manage legal risk and to influence stakeholders
To ensure appropriate reporting on, and escalating of, key legal matters
To develop and maintain effective relationships between the Legal Team and other parts of the Group
To work collaboratively with others in Legal, utilising the expertise of other teams as required and fostering a collegiate and collective approach
To support and implement the vision, strategy and values of the Group and Legal.
To develop and maintain appropriate internal know-how and expertise together with continual improvement and benchmarking
ABOUT YOU
With at least 5pqe as an associate in a law firm and, ideally, with some experience gained within a business you will have experience of advising on a range of commercial law matters, including a strong working knowledge of intellectual property, technology and data protection matters
Able to keep up to date with relevant legal and industry developments, you will have experience of rigorous analysis of complex issues and proven delivery of pragmatic solutions to problems
Self-motivated with a 'can-do' attitude, focused on seeking solutions and possibilities rather than impossibilities you will have the ability to manage a heavy and varied workload and be able to adapt in a changing business environment and to embrace and implement change.
With a collaborative and accessible approach, you will be able to build mutually beneficial relationships and be willing to take on new challenges, additional responsibilities and changes in role
Able to manage competing priorities and balance conflicting stakeholder requirements you will have strong presentation, communication and negotiation skills, be well organised and execution orientated and have experience of managing legal resources effectively.
A fast start would be ideal.
