Intellectual Property Solicitor sought to join global giant UTC Aerospace Systems as their lead Intellectual Property Lawyer for Europe.

In 2012 UTC Aerospace Systems was formed by combining two industry leaders, Hamilton Sundstrand and Goodrich, creating an organisation with key positions on a wide range of aircraft flying today and substantial content on various UAV's, satellites, ground and naval vehicles. Our customers include original equipment manufacturers that build aircraft and helicopters, engine manufacturers, and airlines, as well as defence agencies and contractors. Our commitment is to help them develop and maintain safer, lighter, more reliable and more efficient aircraft and other platforms.

Due to an internal promotion, an opportunity has arisen for an IP Lawyer to use their experience in an environment where technology and the resulting IP is at the heart of the business. This is a role that will be shaped by the person that takes on the challenge! Reporting into the Director of Legal Affairs Europe, and working as part of an established and cohesive legal team, you will:

- Assist in the management, protection, exploitation and strategic direction of our IP portfolio encompassing advising on; patents, trademarks, trade secrets, copyright law and associated litigation;
- Work closely with the technical, legal and management teams to balance legal and commercial aspects of product development and strategy;
- Work closely with inventors and outside counsel in preparing domestic and international patent applications;
- Draft and negotiate various IP agreements relating to development, licensing, technical services, and non-disclosure and other agreements with an IP component.

As well as a thorough understanding of Intellectual Property law gained in a leading private practice law firm or in-house, you will ideally have experience of working with clients in the technology or engineering sectors. Driven and enthusiastic, you will be dedicated to providing a highly professional legal service. In turn, you will be rewarded with an exciting working environment and long-term prospects as well as the opportunity to be involved in the strategic development of UTC.
