Head of Legal (General Counsel), Financial Services, Nottinghamshire

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Head of Legal (General Counsel) for a prominent financial services organisation based in Nottinghamshire, with a salary and package to attract the best candidates.

The purpose of the role is to advise the business on all legal matters, which will also include the management of external legal counsels for specific legal projects requiring external support. The Head of legal will have responsibility to advise the board on legal risks, business continuity planning and oversee data management.

They are looking for a qualified lawyer from private practice or industry with general commercial legal experience. Financial services experience is nice to have, but not essential.

The main focus of legal duties are listed below in order of priority:-

1) General Commercial law – negotiating and managing third party supplier contracts for everything from IT suppliers, telecoms, property etc.

2) Corporate M&A law – in this respect you will oversee any corporate activity and be able to call upon the support of legal partners. If you have experience of M&A transactions this will be an advantage, but not essential.
