Our client is a reputable legal firm with a worldwide reach, and working within various legal sectors. Working from fantastic offices in the heart of Liverpool they are now seeking an experienced Paralegal to join them for a fixed term contract for a minimum of 9 months.
The successful Paralegal will assist Fee Earners in the running a caseload of litigated fast track and multi track EL & PL files within the retail sector.
Responsibilities of the role include:
Court
Monitoring and ensuring team diary actioned in respect of key court dates
Diarising tasks and court directions
Filing A/K of Service and Defences
Drafting Instructions to Counsel
Preparing Directions questionnaires
Pre trial checklists and other court forms/ information requests
Drafting court applications and, consent orders
Attending trials with Counsel
Conducting court hearings (applies only if the person has the relevant experience)
Evidence
Instructing Investigators
Drafting disclosure lists
Reviewing/amending witness statements
Reviewing and assessing liability evidence
Arranging surveillance
Clients
Drafting reports and updates to Insured and Insurer
Discussing cases by telephone with Insured and Insurer
Getting to know the Insured¿s business
Attending client meetings and any other relevant internal meetings
Quantum
Sourcing experts
Arranging appointments
Instructing experts
Reviewing and assessing evidence
Considering medical records
Drafting questions to Experts
Advising on quantum
Arranging surveillance
Financial management/Case management systems
Time recording
Maintenance of case management system in respect of current position/ reserves
Payment requests
The successful Paralegal must be able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of CPR, knowledge/experience of EL/PL claims (desirable) and excellent communication skills when dealing with both clients and colleagues.
