Excellent Broad Commercial Role - 5-9 PQE - Oil & Gas - London

You will ideally be 5-9 PQE having worked in private practice post qualification and have excellent drafting skills. Previous in-house experience is also strongly desired. A strong interest in working in the downstream oil industry is essential, but previous energy experience is not a prerequisite. You will be working in a small team and will report directly to the Head of Legal for the UK and Ireland, supporting the UK and Ireland business across a range of commercial matters.

The opportunity offers considerable breadth and opportunity for a talented commercially minded lawyer to work in a sophisticated downstream oil refining and marketing business. The successful candidate's responsibilities will include assisting:

• Managing commercial transactions from a legal perspective, including commercial contract negotiations supporting our wide range of retail and commercial customers;
• Managing (with external counsel) commercial litigation disputes;
• Working with external counsel on large scale commercial, corporate and strategic projects;
• Working with HR team and external counsel on employment law matters;
• Assisting marketing teams in UK and Ireland on marketing programmes from a legal compliance perspective;
• Assisting the business in the negotiation and execution of procurement contracts;
• Providing guidance to the business on regulatory and compliance projects, e.g. data protection compliance and implementation of the anti-slavery legislation;
• Risk identification and management of risk reduction projects
• Working with external counsel on management of our real estate portfolio of leases and licenced properties, including litigation management; and
• Supporting our commercial supply managers on successful and timely deal execution.
