Locum Childcare Legal Assistant

A well established Local Authority in Cambridgeshire is seeking to add a Childcare Legal Officer to their department on a contract basis.

This position is offered on a long term basis with the successful candidate expecting to be in contract for at least 6 – 9 months, if not longer. The successful candidate will join a highly innovative team who are continuously supported, allowing staff to fulfil their own potential and provide their clients with the best legal service.

It is important to the client, that applicants have demonstrable experience working in a family or childcare legal department for a minimum of 6 months.

Duties will include:

• Assisting a team of circa 12 Lawyers/Solicitors on a variety of task relating to childcare law
• Drafting court applications
• Preparing court bundles
• Assisting counsel at Case Management Hearings
• Requesting disclosure and complying with Court directions
• Holding a small personal caseload of revocation applications which the candidate must prepare, issue and instruct counsel on by preparing the brief and bundle
• Attending PLO Meetings

A degree of independence will be needed for this role, although more complex matters will be supervised by a Solicitor. You should be confident and able to communicate with a variety of people. This role requires contact with professionals and members of the public, therefore you should be confident and professional.

An hourly rate of circa £24 per hour is offered for this position. This is a full time role and candidates will be expected to work from the office.
