The fast growing Legal team and arm of a leading Top 4 accountancy practice is seeking to recruit a talented Corporate Lawyer to join their ranks. The fast growing nature of this team will present exciting opportunities moving forward

 

The firm have plans to build a substantial law business by 2020 and beyond. Globally the business already has over 1500 lawyers across 70 jurisdictions and entered the UK market in March 2015 and the they want to be the market-leading, multi-disciplinary practice with an established reputation within the law industry.

The firm has many large and multi-national clients that require law services as part of business they do with other service lines within the company. They will seek to provide complementary services to these clients, via multi-disciplinary teaming, with a view to offering these clients a complete professional service solution.

Your new role

You will:

  • Build and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and provide high levels of client service
  • Provide insightful, advice to clients
  • Assist in winning work by proactively managing existing stakeholders and contribute to winning new clients
  • Manage the successful delivery of UK Law projects, ensuring technical excellence and practical/business driven approach taken
  • Contribute to successfully extracting maximum value for both and clients from the legal services delivered whilst managing risk appropriately for both clients and the firm
  • Identify and drive forward go to market opportunities


What you'll need to succeed

You will be an:

  • Experienced England and Wales-qualified solicitor with at least 5 years PQE experience gained in the UK at a reputable firm or equivalent as applicants with other suitable experience will also be considered.
  • A self-motivated person who embraces change and is agile in the face of ambiguity.
  • High level of technical knowledge with regards to UK corporate and contract law but with recent relevant experience with regard to:
    • mergers and acquisitions (both buy side and sale side and including cross border mergers)
    • joint ventures
    • private equity transactions
    • corporate governance
    • commercial arrangements
  • Ability to get up to speed quickly on esoteric areas and be keen to continue developing legal skills and engage in new areas of work
  • Good experience of coordinating the provision of advice and the production of complex and interrelated legal agreements and documentation by advisers in several jurisdictions
  • Ability to build strong relationships with significant experience of working with demanding clients across a wide spectrum of size and activities
  • Must be able to deliver robust and appropriate legal advice and exercise sound judgement when consulting on difficult issues
  • Able to demonstrate sound relationship and business development skills, and a keenness to develop these skills further as you will be expected to take responsibility for servicing and building part of the existing business of the team
  • Self-motivated team player. You will be responsible for managing, coaching and quality review with regard to more junior staff in the team and you may take on formal counselling responsibilities.
  • Outgoing with good relationship skills and the ability to deliver quality output
  • Excellent communicator in range of situations both written and oral
  • Ability to identify areas of risk, carry out an effective review and know when to refer upwards
  • Help promote the practise's work within the wider business network
  • Project management skills, planning and prioritising work, meeting deadlines and monitoring own budget and time
  • Ability to solve problems creatively and pragmatically
