Commercial Lawyer

Are you a Commercial Lawyer looking for something different? Or even someone with strong non contentious experience specifically within in construction, finance, corporate or insolvency looking to move into commercial work? If so this role genuinely offers something a little different!
This role is to work directly for companies, very much as an in house lawyer, but with the backing and support of an award winning law firm with all of the back-up, training and support that this offers. The role is to be based within Leeds City Centre but you'd frequently find yourself working on site for the companies. This is a relatively new team and there is lots of opportunity for progression and growth.

The role
You will be working within the firms 'in-house' team, this team literally take over either the entire legal work of specific companies, or specific parts of it, taking on work that was previously handled in-house
The role is essentially to work as in-house lawyer but on behalf of one or two large clients at any point in time, offering the opportunity to work across sectors but focussing largely on commercial contract.
Work will include providing high quality legal advice, mitigating commercial and legal risk and really integrating yourself into the client, their sector and their commercial imperatives.

There is no time recording, no chargeable targets and the option to get involved in business development, but very much by doing a great job for the company and getting to know them well.
Plenty of Paralegal support .
You will spend plenty of time on site with the client or clients that you are working for.
You will be fully supported by non-legal specialists across a number of sectors including IT and project management to deliver highly innovative solutions.
The candidate
The firm are ideally looking for someone who has around 1-5 years PQE, however this is a guideline and candidates that fall outside of this bracket are encouraged to apply
Whilst not critical it would be ideal if you have some in house experience
If you don't have experience of commercial law all is not lost as they are actively considering lawyers with strong non contentious experience within the following areas: corporate, insolvency, construction etc
Candidates will have excellent communication skills with the ability to develop relationships with people at all levels both internally and externally
They really want someone who is enthusiastic and proactive, with a real interest to learn and a fantastic work ethic
