This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically strong and skilled Commercial Property Solicitor to join a well-established and well known South Yorkshire firm as Head of Department this is a really unique role and one that doesn't come around often. In addition to the opportunity to join as Head of Department, there is also a clear route through to progress to Equity Partner within a fairly short period of time. This is a replacement role due to the outgoing Head of Commercial Property relocating to a different part of the country.
Our client, who is a member of LawNet, has a broad client base including many local businesses who have remained with the firm for generations as well as a number of other commercial clients. They offer legal services to both individuals and businesses and are committed to giving the best service to its clients.
The firm itself is a really friendly, down to earth and typically straight talking South Yorkshire firm. They have a particular emphasis on quality of service and are very much driven by quality as opposed to quantity. This opportunity will certainly suit someone who wants to handle good quality work, retain a work life balance, likes working in offices as opposed to open plan and who likes developing local relationships.
The role
You will deal with a wide variety of Commercial Property matters including acquisitions and disposals of both freehold and leasehold Commercial Property, landlord and tenant work, development and more. The firm's client base is varied and will give you the opportunity to work with a real mix of clients including SMEs, OMBs, many commercial clients and public bodies.
As the head of commercial property you will take control of a well-established practice and pick up an existing caseload. In addition to fee earning, there will also be an emphasis on marketing and business development, however it's certainly not the case where you will be working all hours to bring work in, there is already a number of warm leads to follow up on and you will definitely be supported in any marketing ventures. As you will be heading a small team, there is management involved and you will be responsible for two other members - a self-sufficient senior solicitor and an assistant solicitor.
The ideal candidate for this role is someone who is enthusiastic and someone who will really commit to their workload, roll their sleeves up and get stuck in. Our client is open minded and would consider candidates that would like to work either full-time or part-time and can be flexible in start/finish times to accommodate commitments outside of work. They are really looking for someone who is technically sound and can handle a broad range of work, and someone who isn't afraid of business development. The leads are warm, so you wouldn't need to start from scratch either.
