Locum Planning Solicitor

A small and personable local authority legal team based in the East Midlands is currently recruiting for a Locum Planning Solicitor to join them for an on-going part time contract. The successful applicant will be asked to work 2 days each week.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified Solicitor or Barrister with a current practicing certificate and evidence of Continuing Professional Development. Applicants should have experience working in a legal department in the public sector and be able to advise competently with regards to planning matters. Candidates should be able to negotiate and draft planning agreements without supervision.

Duties will include:

• Attending Planning Committee as required
• Providing legal advice on planning matters, and to obtain specialist external legal advice as required
• Attending meetings of committees, sub-committees and working groups
• Preparing reports for submission to the relevant meeting of the Council
• Drafting Section 106 agreements
• Assisting the Principal Solicitor with planning and environmental health prosecutions

An hourly rate of £27 - £35 per hour is offered for this position.
