Clinical negligence Paralegal

Our client is renowned in clinical negligence and they are looking for an experienced paralgeal who has already worked in clinical negligence to join the Manchester team.

You will be working in a small team where you will be responsible for handling files coming into the team and corresponding directly with clients and experts. This role will work under supervision.



Essential Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years experience
  • Efficient organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent grammar and punctuation
  • Good IT skills, including word processing software and a general knowledge of computers.
  • Knowledge of Proclaim system would be advantageous however full training will be provided
  • Client care and communication experience essential, either over the phone or face to face
  • Previous experience of claims handling in a clinical negligence environment is essential
  • LPC qualification desirable


Main Responsibilities

  • Reviewing cases entering the team following the completion of solicitor review, and pagination of medical records
  • Liaising with your senior solicitor to devise a case plan following pagination in order to obtain evidence to establish breach of duty and causation, consideration of limitation etc
  • Ensure that all relevant information is obtained and noted on file and that documentation of file is correct and duly signed
  • Consider as to whether further pagination is required and if so return to the relevant external agency
  • Update the client as to the case plan and advise accordingly
  • Reviewing and drafting of witness statements
  • Identification of missing/additional records
  • Drafting letters and instructions to experts
  • Reviewing reports from experts and liaising your senior solicitor
  • Assisting senior team members when and if required
  • Dealing directly with client queries regarding their cases
  • Ensure key stages are completed within set timescales
  • Follow the company best practise
