Our client is a leading defence technology multinational headquartered in Farnborough. They require an In-House Paralegal to focus on Commercial Contracts and report to the Group General Counsel and Company Secretary whilst working closely with members of the Executive Committee.
The Role
As Legal Assistant you provide support to the legal and commercial business units in the negotiation of commercial contracts and supplier-related commercial contracts. Other aspects include resolving contractual and employment disputes and litigation and advising on contractual & regulatory compliance issues with a special emphasis on the Bribery Act, and other applicable anti-corruption legislation and the UK and international data protection regimes Managing legal work undertaken by outside counsel and partner law firms. You will apply a high level of combined business and legal judgement to all relationships and other issues requiring legal or governance/compliance attention. This position offers an element of flexibility as the level of supervision and involvement and complexity of tasks will depend on the competency demonstrated by the incumbent, representing an invaluable development opportunity for an aspiring lawyer.
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will be UK or Commonwealth law graduate preferably having completed the GDL and LPC with circa two to five years experience. Must have credible experience of dealing with commercial contracts and be capable of influencing with strong negotiating skills. Must have minimal job moves with a solid work track history. For this role, its essential that candidates have excellent written and oral communications.
This opportunity is a 12 month FTC and is perfectly suited for a Legal graduate or Paralegal who has secured a training contract for 2017 or 2018.
