General Counsel

Our client is a well-established commercial bank who provide a range of services including wholesale banking and treasury services who are looking for a new sole General Counsel with treasury experience or exposure to wholesale banking to be the point of contact for legal advice for the business.

THE ROLE

The candidate will undertake a variety of work across the business.

The primary responsibilities include:

• Working in conjunction with senior management and other parts of the business to provide legal advice and be the point of contact for legal matters across the bank.
• Provide advice on banking matters
• Managing, negotiating and reviewing trade documentation.
• Undertake a variety of general legal matters including commercial contracts, regulatory matters, providing legal advice on new business plans.
• Liaise with external counsel when required for legal advice

THE CANDIDATE

• The candidate must have at least 5 years’ post qualified experience either from private practice
• Experience in cross border transactions and/or in the emerging markets space
• Experience providing legal support to senior management in a regulated financial services environment is essential
