Huntsman Pigments and Additives (soon to be Venator Materials Corporation) is a business division of Huntsman Corporation. We are one of the most diversified global suppliers of pigments and additives.
Subject to market conditions, Huntsman Corporation intends to spin-off its Pigment and Additives business during Q2 2017, which will be known as Venator Materials Corporation (Venator). Following its spin-off from Huntsman, Venator will be a leading global manufacturer and marketer of chemical products that improve the quality of life of consumers everywhere.
We operate 27 manufacturing facilities, have more than 4,500 associates and generated revenues of $2.1 billion in 2016. Our products include a broad range of pigments and additives that add color and vibrancy, protect and extend product life, and reduce energy consumption. Our key product lines include titanium dioxide pigments, color pigments, functional additives, timber treatment and water treatment products.
Huntsman are looking to recruit an additional Commercial Counsel to join our established and high calibre team of lawyers, undertaking a diverse and challenging in house legal role to support Venator. At the core of this role will be a range of high value and complex commercial agreements, often including an international element. This commercial legal work might include contracts relating to intellectual property, sale and purchase agreements, transport, IT, procurement, or various special projects. In any given week you might also offer compliance advice, advise on competition/anti-trust issues, manage real estate legal issues, or instruct external counsel, both in the UK and overseas.
To take on this exciting role and make it a success, you'll need to be a qualified solicitor, probably with at least 3-6 years pqe to have gained an appropriate experience level. You'll need strong technical legal skills, as well as real commercial 'nous'. Individuals from a commercial, corporate, projects or other non-contentious discipline are preferred, however your aptitude and attitude are more important than the legal discipline in which you currently work. This could be an ideal first role for someone wishing to move out of a law firm, or an individual who is already working in house and looking to take on a more diverse or heavyweight remit. As well as your strong legal knowledge, you'll also need to be an excellent communicator, successful at working in multi disciplinary and multi jurisdictional teams, and be flexible and tactful. Lastly, though not essential, possessing European language skills would be an advantage, for this is an international business.
This position offers an excellent basic salary and enhanced benefits package to attract high calibre individuals, and Huntsman operate a flexible work pattern. Their very pleasant offices are just off the A19, and an easy commute from many parts of the North East and Yorkshire. This is an exceptional role to come on to the market. If you'd like further details please get in touch without delay.
