Our business

Story Homes has almost 30 years of experience in building high-quality, traditional residential properties with a superb finish. A family owned business, still chaired by owner Fred Story, Story Homes has grown significantly over the years, and has a strong business plan with aspirations to become a national house builder in the next few years. We are well known in Cumbria, the North East and the south of Scotland for building homes and communities that customers aspire to live in, and we are now making a name in Lancashire and the wider North West thanks to our reputation for quality and award winning customer service. Thanks to our attention to detail and a dedicated workforce who truly live the values of the business, Story Homes has been very successful in retaining the coveted Home Builders Federation 5 Star Builder award for a fourth year running, one of only 14 home builders in the UK to be awarded 5 Star status during 2016.

In 2015-16, Story Homes delivered 565 new homes to the market. In 2016-17 this is projected to be over 800 new homes across three well established regional businesses in Cumbria, the North East and the North West. This figure is set to increase to over 1,000 new homes per annum in 2017 with our current business plan seeing these numbers to increase to over 1700 by 2021.
